Matthew Davis wears many hats as a Territory Manager for the Parker Hannifin Corporation. He’s in charge of sales, he helps develop products and he helps create new business opportunities.
Matthew always liked math and science so he originally studied to be a chemical engineer. But as he went through his college classes, he realized he didn’t want to just be a typical engineer. So he also got a master’s degree in engineering management so he could learn business skills.
Now Matthew works from home and gets to travel and do demonstrations for his clients and potential customers. He works in Parker Hannifin’s “Fluid Connector Group” so he knows a lot about hydraulic hoses, industrial hoses, tube fittings, adapters and more. While he doesn’t really “do” chemical engineering every day, he’s using his engineering skills, he’s problem-solving skills, every day. Matthew says it’s also very important to know how to communicate with all kinds of people. On any given day, he has to know how to deal with people who work on the floor in the shops all the way to the CEO of a company.
Matthew has a unique position as a Territory Manager for Parker Hannifin. Many people think he just goes door-to-door selling things to people or making sales calls, but Matthew does very little of that. He’s actually the “face” of Parker Hannifin for his division, being the first person or point of contact between the customer and his company. He works a lot on maintaining and developing good relationships with clients and making sure his company is providing the products they need.
